You know you’ve seen them around, maybe at the Coast of Arms or on one of the kids behind the counter of Breaking New Grounds. The Homework Club T-shirt, in simple black and or in color, is the staple of any hipster’s wardrobe. But tracking one down isn’t always easy for those not in the know. Currently, they are available at the Middle School, at Nahcotta on Congress Street and Colby’s Breakfast and Lunch on Daniel Street, but this weekend, why not purchase one at the Portsmouth Middle School Homework Club Benefit Concert?

For those wondering what a homework club actually is, its pretty much what it sounds like: a place for kids to get their homework done after school instead breaking windows, huffing paint or doing any of the myriad of things early adolescents fall into when left home alone. This program, though it may seem simple, cannot function alone. It needs staff and supplies for special activities and those things cost money.

That is why the Guts, The Gray Davies, The Frosting, Hotrod Fury and Death and Taxes have volunteered their music abilities for this event.

Look at it this way -- How often do you give money to anything? Maybe some spare change in the tip jar of the coffee shop. Doesn’t Count! You know you are going to go out Friday night anyway. Why not take that $5 you were going to spend on a pack of butts at the bar or on that jager shot and give it to a good cause.
