Patriots 30 Raiders 20

Wow, that was an interesting first game of the season last Thursday night. I thought the first half we were not getting it done. We were allowing more runs than somebody loaded with Beano. Corey Dillon was getting nothing and thankfully Tom Brady got enough blocking to throw a few sweet passes. I can only imagine what the half time locker room talk was like because when the Patriots came out in the second half it was business as usual. Defensive adjustments were made and suddenly the run dried up for Oakland. As usual, Brady shared the love with multiple receivers and multiple runningbacks. The second half was largely academic.

I'm pretty hopeful for all the new players we have and how quickly they can fit into the Patriots scheme and way of life. We have an interesting game next against the Carolina Panthers, who have already been crowned by all the media as not only going to the Super Bowl, but winning it all. Aren't you forgetting a little threepeat team from New England? Sure, go ahead and paint us as the underdog again...you saw how well that worked for us last year. I say, bring it...the season is on and we are off and running!

Okay, so my husband is still yelling at the T.V. like you said. He is on a fantasy football team, which I do not understand how it works one bit. Could you explain to me, if you can what it is and how it works? I would sk my hubby, but he gets to stressed out when talking football.

Thanks,

I personally don't play fantasy football, but to the best of my knowledge...people get together and have a draft where they get to pick a team from every available player in the NFL. So, you could have Peyton Manning as your quarterback and Randy Moss as your receiver (even though in real life they play on different teams. You get points for different things- touchdown passes, sacks, yards run, field goals, tackles, etc. As your fantasy players score in real life during the season, you rack up points and compete that way. Now that's just what I think I know, having never actually played fantasy football. I'm sure if I take one minute.....yep, here's a link to a webpage that explains fantasy football (probably more than you ever wanted to know) and could totally prove me wrong, but what the hell!

Thanks Tai! I will take a look at the website and maybe suprise hubby with a little inside knowledge about the game. (fantasy football that is) The guys like your site, the ones on my husbands fantasy football team. One question from them to you.

What do you think about Carolina this year, do you think there is a possibility of another Panthers vs. Patriots match up in the Super Bowl?

Ah, the life of a football widow!!!

No problem Dogonit!

As for Carolina, I'm not sure yet. I think it's way too early for everyone to be crowning them the Super Bowl Champions (Sports Illustrated shame on you!). They lost to the Saints after all and now they take a win over a Patriots team that by all accounts didn't really show up to play. Carolina obviously wanted it more. Maybe it was payback for the Super Bowl a few years ago. Maybe it was just dumb luck. The Patriots are too much of a class act to take this laying down. I can only imagine the locker room this week as Bellicheck preps them for the Steelers. My guess is that he didn't really need to say much- these guys are pros and are probably beating themselves up way more than he ever will. So long story short...I don't have a prediction yet based on two regular season games for both teams. Would I like to see a Patriots/Panthers rematch? Sure...bring it on!
