Martian Warming

While perusing the Internet last night, I came across an interesting article in the London Times of 4/29/2007. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1720024.ece

It appears that the Martian climate is changing so rapidly that it may lose its southern ice cap. This information came originally from NASA’s Mars Global Explorer. Oddly enough it is being reported that the change is similar to that which appears to be occurring on earth - +0.5oC.

Granted, at minus 81 degrees Fahrenheit Mars is significantly cooler than earth, so it will be a while before any Martian sunbathing occurs. This does, however, raise several interesting questions. When did the Martians develop carbon spewing SUVs? Do they plant trees to offset the carbon? Will Martian polar bears drown before their Nancy Pelosi can save them? Did their Al Gore win an Oscar for his movie? Is there a Bush/Cheney oil conspiracy on Mars? The list of questions is endless.Mars1.GIF

The article speculates as to what the Martian heating mechanism could be. Logic has long since left the scene when discussing climate change with a far left Earthling or far left Martian, but I would speculate that the one common element between the two planets – Mr. Sun – might have something to do with the cause.Mars2.GIF

This gives a whole new slant to the term “little ‘green’ men from Mars.”

He's probably got more wood than the guy the supreme court appointed. But that's for the First Lady to know.

I take that back. The President forgave Skooter Libby for lying under oath and obstructing justice. That takes some big balls. Ain't that a man!

Was he found guilty of lying under oath or merely "forgetting what he had done" while talking to federal agents? Perhaps that's a difference without a distinction. It's hard for me to muster enthusiasm for Ole Georgie at the moment after what he did for the amnesty bill.

I didn't sit through the case, but a judge did and sentenced him accordingly. I'm not gonna pretend to be smarter than that judge.
What kind of message are we teaching our kids here? McGruff the crime dog says "You do the crime, you do the time". Apparently unless your boy is in the White House. This is also a case that affects to natiional security. The President's big rallying cry. It's very contradictory for him to let Libby off easy. It's blatantly very partisan. I think everyone can see that.
I have to say I agreed, however reluctantly, with the President on the immigration issue. Like Tony Snow said, the court system couldn't handle processing tens of millions of prosecutions. So let's take a more practical appproach. Make them earn their way in. It also may be the only real solution to the Social Security problem. Since the government has already spent the money instead of saving it for us, we need more people paying into the system. ...And more smokers! (my uncle Bob's joke, not mine)
