New York City Peace and Justice March April 29, 2006

We came from all over the nation to protest the war in Iraq and to send a message to Washington, "We Want Our Troops Brought Home". I Left for New York City Saturday Morning at 5:00 Am. From Dowtown Portsmouth New Hampshire. I boarded a Chartered Bus that offered a nice, contemporary comfortable ride. We then went to Concord to pick up all the other peaace maarchers. The day was sunny and productive For many of us it was our firest time to march. Some of us were old pros, me being one of them. Following you will find my photo essay on the march. I hope you are able to feel the experience.

Friendship Crossing

FRIENDSHIP CROSSING

What a wonderful array of colorful friends I have had the pleasure to walk with on my journey in life. Many of whom long since parted my road to continue the quest for the essence of their own existence. Many partings have intercepted my voyage delivering up goodbyes that are always bitter sweet. All of my goodbyes have taken place in unique environments; through Partings of joy, pain, and geography, Partings of misunderstandings and partings of the spirit.

In each case I have experienced a dichotomy of feelings, from a sense of melancholy and loss to a sense of fulfillment and appreciation. Coming to the same conclusion every time I have had to say farewell: I am blessed from the interactions with others that I have befriended along the way. Weather It was a fiery ending or an ending of mutual joy each person I have come into contact with has given me the opportunity to experience a sense of my own existence and how that plays into the greater scheme of things.

Yet as old friends leave new friends appear just on the horizon and walk my path for awhile. I have been fortunate on occasion to cross paths again with an old friend and when this happens it reaffirms the connection we have always had. In some of these instances this has been the catalyst for a friend to stay in contact with me for life. This is the quintessential moment in a friendship, an opportunity that has presented itself only a few times in my life. If you find that opportunity in your own life I would suggest grabbing on to it.

Now I would like to thank the friends I have lost contact with:

Elaine Neal (My special high school friend who stood tall with me through all my ups and downs)

Carey Mayer (My closest college friend),

Amy Woodell (I served with her in the AmeriCorps Volunteer program),

Frank Stephens (my first romantic relationship),

Martha Robertson (My Teacher from Harmony School, in Bloomington Indiana, that helped me through some rough times)

Channa ( A good friend of my sisters who took me under her wing when I was a child)

John Pearson (another friend of my sisters that helped me stay out of trouble and taught me how to respect others)

Cindy Taulhimer (A coworker I worked with at the Seabrook Community Action Center who changed my life for the better)

Leigh Conway (my dear friend I met at an Indian powwow)

Susan Lamagdalaine ( My friend of many years during my gay identity struggle)

To all I thank you for being a part of my life and I wish you well on your journey.

I end with thanking all of you who travel on my journey today. My friends who are with me now are my daily blessings that keep me nourished in this unpredictable, magnificent, hostile world we live in. You all know who you are and your very much appreciated.

That’s all for now…

A Spring Poem I Wrote in 1993

Living Canvas

A faint whisper alerts us
wildlife
manifold
assorted
pairs of wonderous ears
await
listen . . .
GO GROW !
Go GROW !
GO GROW !
GO GROW !
Reverbrate
Grow wild and free.
Grow colors and textures and scent.
Grow plants and flowers and fruits,
nuts leaves and seeds.
Grow bark herbs and vegetables,
shrooms and fungi.
Mate, have orgasms
have cubs, fawns, ducklings, eaglets, tadpoles.
Eggs cracking
Rain falling
Plants creeping
Road kill multiplying.
Chirping, growling, gobbling, purring, peeping, croaking, crying.
Procreation
Copulation
Pollination
Intercourse
Proliferation
POTENCY. . . ENERGY . . .FERTILE . . . SPRING
