Jumpstart Spring by Bringing It Indoors

Inspiration for home renovation and rejuvenation projects is easy to come by this spring. Everything from the birds outside to foreign lands play a role in this season’s hottest home décor trends. Even if you can’t escape for a paradise retreat, you can create a sense of natural energy within your home by infusing it with eastern accents, pure linens, or organic tableware.

“Creating a fresh, personalized space for each season doesn’t need to cost a fortune,” says Marshalls style expert Amy Cafazzo. “With a little creativity, you can find inspiration in unexpected places, including in nature, other cultures, and even within yourself. This year, look for pillows, wall art, linens and other accent pieces with natural textures and materials to help revive and refresh each room of your home.” GourmetKitchen.JPG

Fast-forward into spring by following these tips:

Bring the Outside In – This season will blend the pastel colors characteristic of spring with natural, earthy tones and elements. Items made out of natural materials such as wood, bamboo, teak, woven sea grass and stone are a huge influence in home décor. Celebrate spring in each room by hanging botanical-inspired wall art or arranging flowers in sleek, clear vases. Nature-inspired candles add ambiance or fill a bowl with seashells to polish off this look.

Ethnic Inspiration – This spring, create a peaceful Zen atmosphere in any room of your house with eastern décor elements. It’s eclectic, unique, and hot, hot, hot this year! But don’t go overboard. Instead, choose a few key ethnic accents. For the dinner table, try pairing bamboo placemats with Asian-inspired dinnerware in unique shapes and finishes. Spice up your living space with pillows, ceramic vases, and wall art with kimono prints or nature-inspired abstracts.

Nautical Flair – We may not all live at the beach, but that shouldn’t be a reason not to infuse some nautical flair into your home. From seashell art to fluffy beach towels, nautical accents create a refreshing spa-like retreat that will have you smelling the salt in the air.

Metropolitan Chic – Bored with the same old wall art? Give your home a modern flair with geometric prints or European-influenced or Impressionist wall art. Letters, words and sayings mounted on the wall or placed on shelves are hot for spring, and detailed accents on anything from ceramic vases to pillows add the perfect touch to any living or dining room.

Outdoor Entertaining – With warm weather on the brink, it’s time to start planning for your fabulous outdoor parties. For evening parties, set the mood with hanging lanterns and metal string lights. Bring some fun to your patio table with brightly colored dishware in unique shapes and sizes, and pick up a few serving trays to dole out your fierce BBQ chicken and lip-smacking margaritas. Highlight your burgeoning garden with earthy planters or ceramic animal statuettes – think ducks and bunnies for spring.
