The theme of the gowns on the red carpet at the Academy Awards seemed to be red. Heidi Klum, Katherine Heigl, Helen Mirren and Anne Hathaway were among the few representing heart-month red.

Sometimes less is more. I loved Jennifer Garner's black Oscar de la Renta and Hilary Swank’s one-shoulder Versace -- and Cameron Diaz's pale peach strapless Christian Dior gown was simply elegant.

Total misses of the night have to include Daniel Day-Lewis -- he looked like he just got off a three-day binge. And let's talk about his wife's dress -- what's up with those red bows? This just doesn't work, ever. Again with John Travolta's hair, it looked sprayed on. Tilda Swinton was sporting a ghoulish look by hot stylist Uncle Fester. And screenwriter Diablo Cody looked like she wore cheetah jammies and slippers to the awards.

Gossip on the carpet: After weeks of speculation, Angelina Jolie’s pregnancy rumor is apparently true. Angelina has not confirmed this, but unless she accidentally swallowed a basketball before attending the Independent Spirit Film Awards (as seen in this picture), she’s pregnant.
