The good news - I finally have a new Gossip Girl promo clip to share with you... Oh, and Gossip Girl is getting a third season!!! Hooray! (It was just announced this past Tuesday, 2/24.)
The bad news... the next episode is not on until March 16!!! Luckily, I have a lot of new scoop on the spin-off to share with you in the meantime.
You've been reading about the rumored Gossip Girl spin-off for awhile now, thanks to the obsession of yours truly with the original series. (I should mention that I was at a party last weekend where I met a woman in her late 40s/early 50s who claimed that Gossip Girl was her favorite show; it's not just for the kids! She was afraid she had missed an episode, but was relieved when I informed her of these arduous weeks of re-runs we have been forced to endure.) On Feb. 6, Runway Ready revealed that former Veronica Mars actress Krysten Ritter landed the role of Carol, Lily's troubled older sister. Now I have learned that the lead in the spin-off, the young Lily van der Woodsen, will be played by American Dreams star Brittany Snow. I like her more as a blonde, anyway... I wonder what the name of the spin-off will be???

Kelly Rutherford and Brittany Snow
A 'friend' says, "Brittany is thrilled. She loves the original show and thinks the 1980's concept sets the spin-off apart from other series on television. She can't wait to wear all the fabulous outfits and really sink her teeth into the role." In December, Star exclusively reported that a Gossip Girl spin-off was in the works focusing on Lily van der Woodsen's scandalous teen years growing up in 1980s Los Angeles. There have been tons of rumors and guesses about who would play the young Lily, including Kristen Bell and Amanda Siegfried, but it's the American Dreams actress Brittany Snow who will have the honor.
Brittany Snow has also appeared the movies Hairspray and John Tucker Must Die. She was apparently the top choice for producers, who thought she would be perfect for the part of young Lily, played on Gossip Girl by Kelly Rutherford. As of yesterday morning, the deal had not yet been finalized, but rumor had it that Brittany was made a terrific offer earlier this month, without having to audition. Later in the day, Krysten Ritter, who will play Lily's sister Carol Rhodes on the show, confirmed to E!, "they just cast Brittany Snow. It's definitely official, and I think I'm the first one to know that. It wasn't official earlier, I saw on the Internet, but now it is official."
I really liked Brittany in John Tucker Must Die, and I guess I'm intrigued to see how this whole spin-off plays out. Does anyone really care about L.A. in the 80s? Especially viewers in the 18-25 demographic that advertisers are so desperately trying to reach? I guess as long as the writing is as sharp and fun as it is on Gossip Girl, this show has a chance. It just doesn't have a gimmick (yet) like the ubiquitous Gossip Girl with her text alerts to and about "Manhattan's elite." What's the hook? Watching young Lily swoon over young Rufus will get old...
The pilot will air on May 11, 2009 as a Gossip Girl episode, one week before the Season 2 finale.
What else is going to happen this season on Gossip Girl?
The last episode of Gossip Girl (yes, it does seem like ages ago...) ended with Dan and Ms. Carr getting to know each other better... naked...
It looks like Dan and Serina are done for now, but Dan and Rachel are going to have to keep their relationship on the down low if there's any chance of her keeping her job.
Sneak Peeks of Upcoming Episodes
March 16: "The Age of Dissonance" - Sebastian Stan (the real-life boyfriend of Leighton Meester) returns for multiple episodes as Chuck's nemesis, Carter Baizen. Chuck is having trouble dealing with the mystery of who his father was and how he spent his spare time. Nate catches Vanessa flirting with another guy, and in a moment of desperation, reluctantly turns to Blair for help. Dan purposely ignores Serena's calls and tells Ms. Carr that things are beyond complicated between the two of them right now. Ms. Carr chooses not to take her job back and spends most of her time in an empty apartment with her new fling. At the same time, Lily and Rufus question where their relationship is going and talk very casually about merging their households, Chuck Bass, however, is strongly against the idea.

This photo was recently leaked, but I don't know if it will be in the 3/16 episode or not. Dan and Blair will appear on stage together at some point...

March 23: "The Grandfather" - Carter instantly causes trouble for Chuck and further angers him when he tries his moves on Blair Waldorf. Meanwhile, Vanessa receives an offer from Nate's grandfather that is difficult to refuse.

March 30: "Remains of the J," - As Jenny has second thoughts about her future, Tamara Feldman returns as socialite Poppy Lifton, and Armie Hammer makes his first appearance in the role of Gabriel Serrano, Poppy's boyfriend who sweeps Serena off her feet with a romantic vacation. Both guest stars will appear in multiple episodes.

April 20, "Seder Anything" - Wallace Shawn returns as Cyrus Rose, Eleanor Waldorf's husband.
April 27, "Loose Ends" - Michelle Trachtenberg returns as the manipulative Georgina Sparks for a four-episode arc, taking us through the end of the second season.

May 4, "TBA" - Introduces the love child of Lilly and Rufus, who is indeed alive, and returns to his parents needing to finish his Senior Year of high school.
May 11, "TBA" - No Doubt will appear and perform their song "Stand and Deliver" for the first time ever on Gossip Girl. This episode will also introduce the Gossip Girl spin-off as a "backdoor pilot."
May 18, "TBA" - Season Two Finale...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Lost Season of Project Runway

A design by an unnamed “Runway” contestant.
Remember how Project Runway was leaving Bravo to go to Lifetime? Remember how they filmed an entire season? Maybe not, as it still has not aired due to a major lawsuit holding up the works. Project Runway didn't let that keep them from the Fashion Week challenge last week, on Feb. 20. Around 1,000 people turned out to look at the three finalists' creations, but the designers' identities are being kept secret.

"I'm a little bit sad for our designers that they don't get that recognition," said Heidi Klum. "They worked so hard." Lifetime bought the show's rights for the next five years for a reported $200 million, and planned to debut season six in January. The episodes shot last fall will remain unseen, however, until the dispute is settled between the Weinstein Company (Project Runway's producer) and NBC Universal (Bravo's parent company) regarding who has the right to air the series. In 2008, the Weinstein Company sold Project Runway to Lifetime. NBC Universal, which owns Bravo, sued the Weinstein Company, claiming it had a right to first refusal of the series. In September of 2008, a judge granted NBC an injunction, preventing Lifetime from promoting or exhibiting the series and the two spin-offs they had planned. It remains unknown on which network season six will air.

Rihanna and Chris Brown - Back Together?!

In some very unexpected news, People magazine is reporting that they have learned exclusively that Rihanna and Chris Brown have reunited. This is about three weeks since Brown allegedly battered the "Umbrella" singer on Feb. 8. "They're together again. They care for each other," says the source. The on-again couple are currently spending time together at one of Sean "Diddy" Combs's homes, on Miami Beach's Star Island.
"While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves," says a source. People also reports In its latest issue that Brown called Rihanna on her 21st birthday one week ago. "He called to wish her happy birthday," a source told the magazine. "They've reached out to each other. It's been mutual." Brown was booked by LAPD for making criminal threats but the case has not yet been presented to the District Attorney, who will ultimately determine which charges, if any, will be prosecuted.

It will dispel the misconception that it is all about glitz and glamour and instead demonstrate that success comes with hard work, long hours and personal sacrifice.

Lauren Conrad Quitting The Hills After Season 5

Lauren Conrad has revealed she is quitting The Hills after season 5. The 23 year-old has been in the spotlight since starring on MTV’s reality show Laguna Beach in 2004. After moving to Los Angeles in 2006, Conrad got her own MTV show, The Hills, which follows her personal and professional life.
Conrad tells Seventeen magazine she has decided to quit the show “while it’s still a great thing.”
“My biggest thing with the show was that I wanted to walk away from it while it’s still a great thing. I always want to remember it that way. I gave MTV a deadline and said, ‘This is as long as I can do it and stay sane,” she says.
Meanwhile, a trailer for the upcoming “bonus episodes” of season 4 show Conrad reconciling with former friend Heidi Montag. The bonus episodes premiere in March.

Old Navy announced a new marketing and advertising campaign today, Feb.26, featuring the “SuperModelquins” - a diverse family of 12 custom-made mannequins with "gossip column-worthy personalities." I do have to wonder how successful this will be, as my training in advertising has taught me that people (consumers) react more strongly to images of real people when making buying decisions. Perhaps they are reaching out to the Second Life generation? The kids who are used to avatars from their video games?

The irreverent campaign emphasizes Old Navy’s trademark sense of fun, fashion and value, and was designed to capture the attention of hundreds of millions of people in a way that’s befitting to the personality of the brand. The multi-faceted campaign, which captures the brand's unique energy, kicks-off with a TV spot that will air today, followed by creative circulars, online advertising, in-store promotions, direct mail and a microsite.
“We know our customers are looking for unbeatable value, particularly in today’s economic environment,” said President Tom Wyatt. “We want to grab our customers’ attention in exciting ways while sending a strong message that Old Navy is serious about offering phenomenal product at great prices.”
The campaign aims to turn Old Navy’s “SuperModelquins” into instant celebrities. Although they each have their own unique personality and style, complete with background stories akin to the gossip magazines in the supermarket check-out line, they are united by a mission to chat up Old Navy’s fashion-at-a-value brand promise to customers.

Developed in partnership with Crispin, Porter + Bogusky, the award-winning agency known for its edgy and innovative campaigns for companies such as Burger King and Coca-Cola, the campaign’s creative platform is the foundation for a fully-integrated marketing campaign intended for Old Navy’s target customer – a young mom on a budget shopping for herself and her family. The first TV ads will promote exciting new deals and core product categories such as denim – all presented in the unique Old Navy way.
Beginning today, February 26, the 12 new SuperModelquins will appear in 200 Old Navy stores, and will be rolled out to all stores over the next few weeks. In addition, many other marketing elements will reach customers throughout their shopping experience. For instance, a newly-designed circular that spoofs celebrity fashion magazines will bring the campaign to life. In addition, humorous vignettes of the SuperModelquins interacting with each other will be posted on a new microsite, oldnavyweekly.com. You can also access coupons on this site by clicking on the banner - I just found one for 20% off my purchase; it's valid 2/27 - 3/5, not bad.

"Breathe in the beauty of kai, and experience the light and soothing scent of today's most sought-after fragrance." Beauty lies in the simplest and purest of things. kai brings this idea to life by using exotic fragrance and natural essences in our light and intoxicating scent. kai captures the irresistible fragrance of the tropics in a full line of perfume oil and body products. breathe in the beauty of kai, and experience today's most sought-after fragrance.
Gaye Straza spent her youth vacationing in Hawaii, and always wanted to capture the island’s fragrance. Years later, after opening the first exclusively upscale women’s boutique in Malibu, California, she developed the kai fragrance and sold it at her boutique. When Straza sold the boutique in 1999, there was so much demand for the fragrance that she decided to continue the fragrance line as a separate company.
kai is available at Making Faces in Portsmouth, located at 65 bow street (603-427-5455). Annie was nice enough to send Runway Ready some samples to review, and I tested this fragrance. The notes are gardenia, jasmine, tuberose, and lily. (I should mention that I'm probably not the best person to review fragrances, as I have been wearing the same two for around 13 years, but I will be open-minded.) Initially, the scent is very strong - to the point where I was sure I was not going to be a fan - but the sharp green scents fade and you are left with a soft, light, non-offensive floral (I think it's almost a musky floral) scent. I generally cannot stand anything that smells too flowery. A touch of rose water now and then, okay, but I am very picky when it comes to floral scents. I guess I prefer food scents - like pomegranate or vanilla. kai, however, seems to be a floral scent that even I can wear. It claims that it smells different on everyone (as I think most perfumes do), but all that matters is that I like the way it smells on me. I find it to be feminine and sophisticated. It is warm enough to worn in the winter, but bright enough to also be a summer fragrance.
Today, kai is sold at exclusive boutiques and spas all over the world, with many devotees, including Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Naomi Watts and others, including the list below.

The only complaints about the scent that I have read from some other reviewers are 1) The the scent is so light someone would have to be right next to you to smell it. and 2) It's too expensive.
On this first complaint, I don't know what to tell you. There are still a few poeple who complain it's too strong. (Maybe it just doesn't smell quite right on those people...) Overwhelmingly, most people agree that this a a great, light scent. I would suggest trying out both the spray and lotion, to determine which holds the scent longest for you, if that is a concern. My sample seems to be giving me just the right amount of fragrance, but I think for me it will be more of a Monday - Friday perfume; I may need something more wild for the weekend.
Regarding the price, the people who love kai, really love it. One reviewer advises, "don't be put off by the price of this small bottle. it's loaded. all it takes is one swish of the roller ball on the wrist or neck and you'll smell like swanky fields of soft gardenia for blooming hours to come. mmmmmmm, a fave! " (The roller ball style seems to be a favorite across the board. It's a tiny roll-on oil bottle that fits perfectly in a purse for easy travel.) I have also read from many users that a little bottle lasts a long time. How long is "a long time"? Well, I guess you'll have to buy a bottle & let me know!

Chloë Sevigny's "Gay Lumberjack" Fashion Line

“The references are all over the map,” said an unapologetic Chloë Sevigny, chatting about her latest collaboration with Opening Ceremony — a unisex collection she unveiled during London Fashion Week. The line, which she showed Sunday at the Double Club, was a “slight homage” to one of her favorite designers, Miguel Adrover, said the actress, but it also had dashes of what she called “gay lumberjack,” James Dean, preppy New England and English punk. Highlights included skinny moleskin trousers, Fair Isle, tiger and leopard-patterned knits, little tweed blazers, dyed thermals and oversize jackets that fall past the hip. It was conceived as a men’s collection that women could also wear.

Sevigny and Opening Ceremony have also collaborated with Bass on a selection of footwear, including two-tone Weejun loafers and saddle-shoe boots. Other accessories include checkerboard scarves, fabric backpacks with plastic patch pockets and beanies. Prices start at $95 for a fringed scarf and run to $945 for an overcoat. The line will be carried at Opening Ceremony in New York and Los Angeles and stores including Barneys, Colette and Dover Street Market.

The collection is Sevigny’s second for Opening Ceremony and her first foray into men’s wear. “There’s much less pressure doing men’s, and because this collection is unisex and oversized, I felt like I could have more fun,” she said. “Except for the trousers — getting the fit right was really difficult.” Although designing is just a sideline — she was showing this collection in between filming “Mr. Nice” in Wales and Spain — Sevigny said it’s a passion. “I love pouring my creative energy into fashion during my downtime,” she said.

This isn’t the end of her work with Opening Ceremony. She wants to continue designing for them, but would also consider other projects. “Maybe I’d do a very small collection for one of the big luxury brands,” she said. “But right now, Opening Ceremony is right — we have a shared aesthetic.”

Guilt-free Cinnamon Buns

It's no secret that the gorgeous girls down at Making Faces have a reputation for making the beautiful people more beautiful with their top-notch beauty products and expertise. Recently, I've been testing a few products from a delightful gift bag full of free samples the girls sent me around Christmas. And I can't lie: So far I've liked everything I've tried, especially the Philosophy line.
Most of my friends know that I've never been a fan of lip gloss. I usually zero in on my eyes when it comes to applying makeup, keeping my lips natural. And I have to admit I've hated the way most lip glosses felt on my lips – leaving them feeling thick and sticky, not to mention the annoyance of having to pull my hair off my lips like it's flypaper.
But a few weeks of using the Cinnamon Buns lip shine, inspired by Philosophy's best-selling shower gel and bubble bath (which I will also be reviewing soon) turned out to be a sweet surprise.
Obviously, glosses will be somewhat sticky, but Cinnamon Buns wasn't that bad. This high-gloss formula is infused with a delicious cinnamon buns scent and flavor that smells and feels soft and supple. Cinnamon Buns left my lips with a supernatural finish that looks and tastes like freshly baked cinnamon buns, without all the guilt.
Realistically, I can't promise your hair won't stick to you on a windy day, but I definitely recommend this product. It comes in a handy, non-messy tube to throw in your purse. You can find Cinnamon Buns lip shine at Making Faces, ocated at 65 Bow St. in Portsmouth, N.H. (603-427-5454)

Justin Timberlake Hits Fashion Week
width="425" height="315" />
With a show like The William Rast fashion event, it's no wonder Justin Timberlake topped GQ's Most Stylish Men in America list. The crooner, along with partners Trace Ayala and Marcella and Johan Lindeberg, designed the classic denim and leather looks that graced the runway during New York's Fall 2009 Fashion Week.
Celebs came out in droves—GF Jessica Biel, Anthony Anderson, Emile Hirsch, Gerard Butler and Aubrey O'Day, among them—to see the collection embellished with rock-star fringe and studs. (Runway Ready also informed you of Anna Wintour's interest in a future Timberlake cover.)
"We believe that during this coming era of modern America, it is creativity that will be one of the most important ingredients to bring energy into today's culture," the one-sheet distributed on guests' chairs read. "The William Rast Fall Winter 2009 expression draws upon inspiration from the American Classic Movies of Rumble Fish and Thelma & Louise...Blended with sharp tailoring, featuring strong, confident shoulders and slimming silhouettes, the collection expresses a bold direction for New America."

Oscars: Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie Come Face to Face

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came face to face with the actor’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston at the 2009 Academy Awards last night – the first time the trio attended the same event since Aniston and Pitt’s divorce in 2005.
Aniston, wearing a sequined Valentino dress, skipped the red carpet but presented the Best Animated Feature award alongside Jolie’s Kung Fu Panda co-star Jack Black. Black joked that all Pixar films win Oscars, and Aniston said, “I apologize Mr. Katzenberg [Jeffery Katzenberg, the co-founder of Dreamworks], I don’t know why we let him out of the house.”
The camera cut to Jolie and Pitt, who were sitting in the front row. The couple laughed and clapped throughout Aniston’s presentation.
Aniston and her date, boyfriend John Mayer, sat only 12 seats away from Jolie and Pitt.

The Oscars are on tonight at 8pm EST on ABC. Runway Ready will be discussing the Red Carpet tonight - my first attempt at LIVE blogging, so we'll see how it goes...
5:14pm: Watching the E! Pre-show. Discussion of past Oscar beauties - focus now on Nicole Kidman.

Nicole looks ravishing in this red Balenciaga dress; her hair and make-up are perfect. This is how you work red...
Next up - Halle Berry

This is a quintessential example of the woman wearing a dress, not a dress wearing the woman. In this photo, Halle arrives at the 77th Annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, CA on Sunday, February 27, 2005.
I wonder what the hot Oscar styles tonight will be...
One guess - I think we will be seeing a lot of a-symmetrical, one-shoulder gowns. I also expect to see a combination of soft, romantic, flowing dresses in muted and pale colors & lightweight fabrics right along side brightly colored gowns. I'm wondering if we will continue to see metallic fabrics and accents.

5:50pm - I am embarrassed for E!'s Giuliana Rancic. They are attempting to teach her dance moves, based on the Bollywood-inspired ending of Slumdog Millionaire.
Miley is one of the first to hit the carpet in this Zuhair Murad creation:

6:49pm - Dev Patel & Frieda Pinto being interviewed by Ryan Seacrest. She is wearing Galliano - it's a deep blue, with one full-length sleeve made of lace. Not just anyone could work this look, but Frieda wears it well. She revealed that Angelina Jolie shared some advice with her, "At the Sag Awards. But she just said, ‘Don't let anything affect you. Enjoy. This is your moment.’ She’s wonderful." Dev & Frieda are being teased about if they are dating in real life, but they are denying the rumors. They do look awfully cute together.

7:05pm - Heidi Klum and Seal. They are such a sweet couple. She's wearing a red dress, and part of the reason for the red dress (besides the fact she looks fabulous in it) has to do with her work against heart disease. The dress itself has a very cool cut & flow; it's very modern and one of the E! fashion experts said it best when it described it as "origami-like." The jewelry Heidi was wearing was also completely stunning & perfectly completed the look.

7:10pm - Seth Rogen. Need to make note of his arrival because he looks so much better than he did in "Superbad." (No matter what he's wearing... I didn't get a close-up.)
7:13pm - Amy Adams is also wearing red. I'm loving her thick beaded necklace. I really hope I'll be able to find pics of all my favorite looks. I do wish she wore her hair down.

7:16pm - Robert Pattinson has had better hair nights, but he is still looking rather dreamy. I also learned today that the third movie in the Twililght series is slated to come out in 2010, so we won't have to wait forever.
7:18 pm - Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick (despite the rumors of their unhappy marriage, are here together.) She said that it looks like Sex and the City II is going to happen. She's wearing as she describes, a strapless "barely mint" Dior haute couture gown.
7:35pm - Anne Hathaway is looking old-school Hollywood in a jewel-encrusted Armani white gown with piettes that create a fish-scale like effect on the skirt.

7:39pm - Brad and Angie have just hit the red carpet. She is wearing what appears to be a strapless black (velvet? it's hard to tell from afar...) gown that is flowing in the front. Will this cause baby bump rumors? I'll wait for the close-up to decide. (I was wrong about the bump... and the velvet... but I'm still not very impressed with Angelina here.)

7:45pm - Penelope Cruz is wearing a chiffon strapless (I guess strapless is in!) cream dress with brocade couture lace inset on top of beautiful rouching. Tim Gunn describes her dress as, "a museum piece."
7:46pm - Jessica Biel looks gorgeous. He dress is very unique; it's light colored and very architectural in its design. It does make her stand out on the carpet, and it's nice to see her hair down.

This is one of my favorite dresses of the evening thus far. Taraji P. Henson is in Roberto Cavalli with jewels by Fred Leighton.
Natalie Portman is cute as can be; I am absolutely in love with this dress, but I wish her hair were more interesting. I think flowers in her hair would have been a nice touch.

I'm loving Marisa Marissa Tomei in Versace and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels. She said her dress just arrived today; I'm glad it did - it's a stunner.

Rip The Runway Fashion Show

Fashion lovers, take a glimpse into the prestigious world of fashion when BET's RIP THE RUNWAY tapes at the famed Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Saturday, February 21 at 7:00 p.m. Hosted by actress and model, Joy Bryant and "Notorious" star Derek Luke, RIP THE RUNWAY showcases the latest trends in fashion, hip accessories, music and the hottest models on the runway. Returning for its fifth season, BET partners with the leading urban designers including Akoo, Protege', Korto Momolu (from Bravo's "Project Runway"), and Johnny Vincent Swimwear to bring viewers an exclusive front row seat to the finest fashion show in town.
Over the years, Joy Bryant has become a permanent staple in the fashion world and it's seldom that magazines don't feature her in their fashion pages. Bryant's acting debut began with MTV's film "Carmen: A Hip Hopera;" which was followed by her explosive breakthrough in Denzel Washington's "Antwone Fisher," which also features RIP THE RUNWAY co-host Derek Luke. Bryant has appeared in high-profile films as "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins," "The Skeleton Key," "London," "Honey" and "Get Rich or Die Tryin'."

New Jersey native, Derek Luke, had a passionate dream of becoming an actor, so he took a leap of faith by booking a one way ticket to Los Angeles with what he calls having no "plan B." Luke, determined to not return void of his mission, took different jobs as a waiter and audience usher on various studio lots and awards shows. Finally he landed a job at the Sony Studio store where he was able to take auditions on his lunch breaks. There he met Antwone Fisher, a former Sony Pictures security guard, and learned that a film based on Fisher's life was in development. In the early stages of casting for the film, he decided to crash the auditions. After the film went on hiatus for over a year, he got an audition through his manager and after several call backs he landed the lead role. That was the beginning of his acting career. Since making his film debut, Luke has starred in a dozen films including "Madea Goes to Jail," "Miracle at St. Anna," "Biker Boyz," "Friday Night Lights," "Glory Road," "Lions for Lambs," "Definitely, Maybe" and most recently Luke starred as Sean "Diddy" Combs in the Fox Searchlight bio-pic "Notorious."
RIP THE RUNWAY will premiere on BET on Monday, March 2 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT* and will re-air on Thursday, March 5 at 8:00 p.m.* and Friday, March 6 at 10:00 p.m.*.

British Boxing Beauty's Boobs Banned?
It is happening to former British glamour model, Sarah Blewden. The 25-year-old Brit beauty’s boxing career has been put on hold by the Amateur Boxing Association of England because of her false breasts. The ABA fears that if she is delivered a serious blow to the chest her breasts could be knocked out of shape and could cause permanent damage to breast tissue.

Blewden has been training for this for two years now and is pleading with the ABAE to allow her to wear a breast protector, but the boxing medical community says there isn’t even an approved protector that would guarantee safety. “If I had great, ginormous, double-F breasts it would be different,” said Blewden.
"This isn't about that, it's about boxing," she told ABCNews.com. "I'm not trying to get my five minutes of fame. I just want to try to see if there is any way they can approve breast protectors. You look at the medical stats of women in the last year and all you see are three grazes on the cheek. It's safer than horseback riding and skiing."

John Mayer is gearing up to attend the Oscars for the first time. The singer tells Popsugar.com that he will attend the awards ceremony with girlfriend Jennifer Aniston. “It’s my first Oscars. And it’s my first being an Oscar boyfriend,” he says.
After enjoying the night with Aniston, Mayer admits he’ll be turning all his attention on finishing his next album. “After that night I have a deal almost signed in blood that says I must go into the studio and finish this record. So after Oscar Sunday, Monday morning I’m invisible,” Mayer added.

Banana Republic Introduces Eco-Friendly Green Collection

This is a step in the right direction. It's great to see major retailers getting on board with the need think about thier products differently, saving our natural resources, and just making it a little easier and more affordable for the average American to be a conscientious consumer. Banana Republic is excited to announce the launch of their eco-friendly Green Collection. The 50 piece collection is for men and women; it includes a new label & packaging system, and is produced in ecoconscious fabrics. The Green Collection will be available to select US, Canada, Japan and the UK Banana Republic stores on April 8, 2008.

“Banana Republic is committed to reducing our environmental impact one step at a time. We know that true sustainability will take time, but we believe it fundamental to the way we operate our business. Banana Republic is pleased to be introducing eco-friendly products as just one of the many ways we work towards promoting environmental sustainability – in our stores, by using recycled materials and in our overall business practices. We love how this collection is both ‘green’ AND chic. It was essential that each piece look and feel amazing and comfortable. The fact it has been designed with environmental sustainability in mind is just another advantage for our customer.
The tremendous new developments in eco-conscious fabrics allowed us to create a full range of products for the collection. In this concept, we used bamboo, organic cotton and linen, soy/silk blends and other renewable and sustainable raw materials. Designing this product has been an inspiring process. Many of us are now looking to our everyday practice for ways to demonstrate our ongoing commitment where we can, not just for this collection, but future seasons as well.” - Simon Kneen, EVP Design & Creative Director

Cameron Diaz Plans Wedding to Paul Sculfor

Cameron Diaz and Paul Sculfor are reportedly planning a "big white wedding" this year. Sources claim the couple is looking for an English estate at which to hold the wedding ceremony and plan to rent out an entire hotel to throw a party for family and friends.
"They're looking at big country estates with chapels within the grounds. They plan to hire out an entire hotel for their family and friends, and throw a massive party. They want to get married in the UK, but will continue to live in Los Angeles," says an insider. "Cameron wants a big white wedding with the full works."
Diaz and Sculfor began dating in early 2008, soon after the British model's split from Jennifer Aniston. A source close to the pair adds that they are "absolutely crazy about each other" and plan to start a family right away.

Make Me Blue-tiful
Blue is often associated with spirituality and celestial powers. Surrounded by blue elements in the air, water, crystals and diamonds, it is known for making a powerful statement. A sacred hue worn by royalty, blue's deep saturated pigments, layered with medium shots of regatta, Mediterranean blue and sheer aquamarine, add dimension and importance to any outfit. As seen in knits and tees, skinny or flowing pants, shifts, sheaths, and strapless dresses, as well as sculpted outerwear, blue's impact is evident. Prints include batik, tie-dyed, and ikat combined with embellishment and crafty details. Fabrications range from sheers, chiffons and charmeuse, to jersey, stretch cotton, and denim. A sea of blue can also be seen in totes and satchels, pumps and flats, china print scarves, and statement pieces in turquoise and aquamarine.

The Avant Garden
A declaration of love or a gesture of thanks, flowers communicate where words are irrelevant. Not your typical floral arrangement, these flowers are in bloom whether they are scattered in all-over patterns, stylized or abstract, romantic or graphic prints. A flourishing wardrobe captivates the eye, bringing dimension to simple sheath and shift dresses, flat knit cardigans, full skirts and chiffon blouses. This season's love affair with florals continues with fabric flowers, cloisine cuffs, floral pins and rings, canvas handbags with silk flowers and oversized earrings. Spring 2009 will be bountiful with blooms bursting at the seams of apparel and accessories.

Welcome Back Color
Back and bolder than ever, color is here to stay! With an intense energy that stirs your emotions, color is therapy for the mind, body, and soul this season. Take advantage of the vast color spectrum to accentuate a personality trait or convey an emotion. This modern and graphic approach for a wardrobe with a minimalist attitude is not to be missed. Bright colors used to boost or to shield include pepper green, ultra violet and purple contrasted with camellia rose pink, flame scarlet, and lemon chrome. Fabrics such as neoprene rubbers, nylons, shiny vinyls and patents, stretch Lycra jersey, sheers and optical prints give these hot new colors a modern twist. Important silhouettes will include tee shirt dressing, striped tunics and hoodies, graphic shirts, layered pieces, wide leg pants, tailored jackets and one-shoulder dresses. To play up your outfit even more, include color-blocked handbags, cubist shoes, wrap belts, bold rings and cuffs, and opaque hosiery in all colors of the rainbow.

Summer of Love
The daughter of a rock icon and a fairy, tough and ethereal meet to evoke the spirit of enchantment this summer. Reinvent a wardrobe into a world of wonder by blending the flavor of 70’s with a hint of St. Tropez. The free-spirited attitude illustrates a fairy tale story filled with light and airy textiles, and washed and distressed tones. Bright touches mixed with pales, ranging from caramel cream and subtle lemon grass yellow, to hints of dusty smoke grey, and sea fog purple, whisper their heady melody. Sculpting fabrics with vintage lace, tulle, iridescent sequins, feather trims and crystal talismans as embellishments, give easy silhouettes a sense of whimsy. Art and message tanks and tees, leather motorcycle jackets, skinny pants and vests, against a feminine ruffled and tie-neck blouses, maxi-dresses, gypsy skirts and tunic blouses make this trend romantic at heart, but reinvents a contemporary world with magic and a hint of rock and roll. Metal continues to influence this trend with handbags flanked in precious metals, studs and fringe in oversized, unconstructed totes. Zipper details play a major role, while surreal heels and flat summer boots in exotic skins enhance the look. A mix of hard and soft add character to the leather and chiffon, chain link and diamond combinations.

Cactus Flower
With flowers in full bloom, the young and hip crowd has found their place in this season’s fresh bouquet. For a relaxed summer mood, romantic soft-washed watercolors bloom in muted brights. Ditsy prints mixed in varying scales within one garment create an ultra feminine look. Retro prevails in 60’s style florals with bold outlines and color palettes including rose, petal, orchid, terra cotta, and desert shades. The modern flower child motif includes easy silhouettes and floaty, flirty pieces. Billowing unstructured skirts and tops, flowing maxi dresses, fabrics like lace, chiffon, soft leather and suede along with fringe detailing are the key features of this romantic look. All abloom, this floral look gives you the freedom to layer fabrics, mix prints and fearlessly accessorize.

Supergirl
It’s a bird… It’s a plane… it’s a fresh look at retro-comic superhero attire. Exploring our fascination with fantasy, imagination and the heroine, supergirl style creates a sophisticated take on the street-casual look. With comic book tees, super tight jeans and bold prints taking center stage, this trend cannot be missed. Providing unlimited opportunities to remake and reshape a wardrobe, float into a fantasy world where you play a starring role. Ultra bright colors, and skintight silhouettes, suggest an unorthodox version of glamour. This spring, fashion is moving faster than a speeding bullet.
All fashions pictured above are available at Macy's.

Vogue's Anna Wintour Looking for Two New Assistants

In The Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep's character, modeled after Anna herself, has to get by with only two assistants to run ragged, but I guess in real life she is used to having three. Unfortunately for her, two have apparently just jumped ship. An e-mail was sent from Condé Nast:
Hi guys,
Sorry for the mass email. Two of the three assistants in Anna Wintour's office are leaving soon and Condé Nast is starting to look for candidates. If you know of anyone that may be interested in applying have them shoot me an email and I can put them in touch with the right person in HR.
Some experience in fashion or media is good. Smart, well-educated, calm, etc...
Let me know if you can think of anyone.
Thanks!
Who will the lucky two be? And will we ever know the reason for the sudden departures - it seems like there must be some juicy details to this story... Let's hope someone dishes soon!
Anna on the Hunt for Hot Cover Girls & Justin Timberlake

According to the New York Post, backstage at the William Rast show in the Mercedes-Benz Star lounge, Anna Wintour was overheard asking daughter Bee Schaffer, "Who is the singer that talks about kissing girls?" (Katy Perry). Wintour told William Rast founder Justin Timberlake that he and Perry should team up for something in an upcoming issue of Vogue, and also told Timberlake that his girlfriend, Jessica Biel, should stop by her office to discuss a future cover.

On Friday night, February 13th, the third installment in the Flush Funk 'n' Fashion series took place at Exeter Town Hall in front of another impressive crowd. Models rocked the runway wearing fashions from LunaChics, Sexy Skins & Ablaze while The Head rocked the stage as always with their unique brand of original funky music from the Flush CD, seamlessly blending musical styles ranging from hip hop to soul to gritty R&B, highlighted by TVP vocalist Gwen "Gia3" Leathers belting out amazing riffs as the onstage fog billowed into her pink afro wig.
A new addition into the mix were locally based dancers Marianela Ramirez & Deo Mwano. Not only did they get the crowd hyped up to kick off the show, but they reappeared frequently with some freestyle moves to keep things groovin'.

The featured models ranged from seasoned professionals, Portsmouth resident Evan Manaquis used to work full time during his days in New York City, while Exeter native Mara Blanchette is new to the scene. "It's really fun. It's just something different to do," Blanchette said. "I love wearing all the great clothes."

Following the fashion show, much of the audience moved across the street to the after party at the jam-packed Exeter Tavern. The Head set up their gear and played an additional set of tunes as party-goers danced, drank and kept the party going into the wee hours, creating a fitting beginning to Valentine's Day.

According to Flush founder and executive producer, Scott Ruffner, there will be more Funk 'n' Fashion shows to come. "We've been delighted with the success of the first three events over the past several months. Each time out, we learn valuable lessons about how to keep improving things for the audience. We really believe we've created a unique nightlife experience on the Seacoast and it's only going to keep getting better."

Chris Brown Releases a Statement on Rihanna Attack Allegations

Chris Brown released a statement Sunday regarding his arrest last weekend for allegedly attacking girlfriend Rihanna. The rapper, 19, says he is “sorry and saddened” over the incident, but insists the media’s speculation about what happened “is wrong.”
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong,” the statement says. “While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else. Those posts or writings under my name are frauds.”
Brown was arrested last Sunday after allegedly assaulting Rihanna, 20, during an argument. He was charged with felony making criminal threats and could face additional charges from the district attorney.
Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, has not commented.

PETA's Annual Worst-Dressed List

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher are currently ranked as the No. 1 and 2 Worst Dressed Celebrities in PETA's annual "Worst Dressed" poll. "She may be a cougar, but that's not helping fur-loving Demi Moore in the eyes of animal lovers," the group tells Usmagazine.com of the May-December couple.
Moore is often spotted wearing fur, while Kutcher earned the wrath of PETA after donning a coyote coat at January's Sundance Film Festival. Also up for PETA's worst dressed list: Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kanye West, Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen Twins, Mary J. Blige, and Kate Moss. Vote on PETA.org until March 2.
There has even been a "Trollsen Twins" campaign launched by PETA, against Mary-Kate and Ashley's love of fur. You can add a web banner like the one above to your site "to let the world know that wearing the fur of tortured animals is much worse than just a crime against fashion!"

Amy Winehouse Hospitalized

Amy Winehouse collapsed and was hospitalized on Friday. She has been vacationing on the island of St. Lucia for what seems like months. The UK's Sun reports that sources on the Caribbean isle said she had been drinking heavily. “She looked in a terrible state, a shaking mess. The people with her were very concerned.”
A spokesperson for Amy Winehouse confirmed she was admitted into the hospital. He said, however, that she had run out of a drug replacement she has been using. Amy was said to be recovering well and is expected to be discharged from hospital care soon.

If you love super-chic and trendy clothing at affordable prices, then welcome to Lunachics.
Owner Dana De Niro-Moulton, who founded her business in 2003, has graciously agreed to answer a few questions about what it takes to run a successful boutique that carries some of the hottest labels and fabulous accessories.

Runway Ready: Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Dana: I live in Rye and am originally from New Jersey. I have 2 daughters; one is a sophomore at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, and the other is a senior at Phillips Exeter. I have owned LunaChics for 7 years. I am married.
Runway Ready: "Lunachic" means what exactly? Where did you come up with the name? And what made you want to have your own boutique?
Dana: LunaChics doesn't particularly mean anything! The name came up one night when a bunch of us were out "on the town" brainstorming for names and we were acting like a group of lunatics! Hence..the name.
Runway Ready: Describe your shop to us?
Dana: My store has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We welcome children, dogs, and all those that would rather be somewhere else! We have a great sitting area with a flat screen TV and toys for the kids. My dog, a black lab named Sophie, is a very important part of the store! People absolutely love her and they often visit just to see her. She's a real gentle soul. LunaChics specializes in denim. We can fit just about any type of body... young and old and we have sizes that range from 00-18. We also carry some great contemporary lines such as BCBG, Michael Stars, Free People, Brighton, Longchamp. We carry some great affordable jewelry lines. There is truly something for everyone with affordable prices!!!

Runway Ready: What type of labels do you carry?
Dana: Longchamp, Brighton, Michael Stars, Free People. Lilla P, Members Only, Frye Boots, Alternative, Max and Cleo, Joseph Ribkoff, Hanky Panky, Joe's Jeans, Citizens of Humanity, Seven for all Mankind, Christopher Blue, J Brand, Hudson, Red Engine, Silver Jeans and so much more!
Runway Ready: What do you look for in a line or product when you're buying for your boutique?
Dana: I look for price and quality. In these tough times, price is more important than ever. I am searching for the great sweater that retails for under $50 and some fun tops that are in the same price range. I also look for uniqueness, something that cannot be found in any other stores on the seacoast. The denim starts at $68! There are also more expensive lines such as BCBG for the women that is looking for something more special.
Runway Ready: The woman who shops at Lunachic is?
Dana: Young girls all the way to mid 60's. The emphasis would be early 20's to 50.
Runway Ready: What fashion advice do you have when it comes to putting an outfit together for your customers?
Dana: My fashion advice is always: Be comfortable in what you are wearing and you will wear it well. I also notice that many “mature” women wear their jeans too big, which tends to not show off their figure. They are always concerned that they think they look too young if they wear them more fitted. Absolutely not! I tell them they look neater and trimmer if they wear their jeans properly fitted. I like to show them the diversity of the great Michael Stars tops and how they can put them with a pair of jeans for daytime wear and transition right into evening.
Runway Ready: Who’s your favorite designer?
Dana: Stella McCartney.
Runway Ready: What do you love about your job?
Dana: I love working with people and the gratification that comes with helping them feel better about the way they look. It is not infrequent that a woman comes into LunaChics discouraged that she just can't find the right pair of jeans – 99 percent of the time she leaves with a great pair, or two, and a big smile on her face. We also help her accessorize her denim with some great tops or sweaters and finish with some fashionable inexpensive jewelry.
Most of our jewelry retails for under $50, with $25 or less being average. It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone into my store and make them feel comfortable and relaxed. That is what shopping should be – no pressure, just some laughs and a good time. I want to make a customer, not a sale.
Runway Ready: How did you get involved in the Flush Funk & Fashion Runway show? Do you think these types of shows are beneficial to your business?
Dana: I became involved with the fashion show after getting to know Scott Ruffner. He’s a great guy with a lot of energy and a good work ethic. He is trying hard to get more “action” into the Seacoast and he has succeeded with his last two fashion shows. I believe it has helped my store, too. Of course, lots of advertising and exposure will always help my business.
Runway Ready: Is there anything I haven't asked you that you would like to add?
Dana: The only thing I would like to add is that LunaChics is a store that has many price points. I believe the store has gotten a bit of a reputation as being expensive and only for young girls who are thin. So untrue! We have denim by Not Your Daughter's Jeans and Christopher Blue, designed especially for the more mature customer. We also have great denim that starts at $68. We carry many tops for $50 or less and we also carry a great line called Alternative that retails for under $25. I mean it when I say there is something for everyone at every budget!

Do Buffy Fans Have A Reason To Live Again?
Don't miss the premiere episode of FOX's anticipated 2009 series, "Dollhouse," starring Eliza Dushku and Tahmoh Penikett! DOLLHOUSE will air on Fridays at 9:00pm EST beginning on February 13th on FOX. This is one new show, especially if you are a fan of Joss Whedon, that you do not want to miss! PREMIRE IS THIS FRIDAY THE 13th ON FOX AT 9PM EST.

The Lovely Eliza
Echo, played by Eliza Dushku, is an "active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined to a secret facility known as the "Dollhouse," Echo and the other actives including Sierra (Dichen Lachman) and Victor (Enver Gjokaj) carry out engagements assigned by Adelle (Olivia Williams), one of the Dollhouse leaders. The engagements cater to the wealthy, powerful and connected, and require the actives to immerse themselves in all manner of scenarios - romantic, criminal, uplifting, dangerous, comical and the occasional "pro bono" good deed.
After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler Boyd (Harry Lennix), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings and experiences are erased by Topher (Fran Kranz), the Dollhouse's genius programmer. Echo enters the next scenario with no memory of before. Or does she?
As the series progresses, FBI Agent Paul Ballard (Tahmoh Penikett) pieces together clues that lead him closer to the Dollhouse, while Echo stops forgetting, her memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past.
Eliza Dushku on Jimmy Kimmel Live 8-6-08

Michelle Obama to Grace the Cover of Vogue

“It’s a wonderful achievement for Vogue,” said editor at large André Leon Talley, who interviewed Obama for an hour at the Hay-Adams Hotel a few weeks before the inauguration. Vogue has photographed the new first ladies since 1929, when the first was President Herbert Hoover’s wife, Lou Henry Hoover.
Obama’s cover portrait, said Talley, “absolutely reflects who she is without any questions. There’s such a warmth that she emanates. It’s the warmest cover you’ve seen in a long time on Vogue. Models pose, actresses pose. This is a real woman.” Indeed...
Obama is the second first lady to be featured on a cover of Vogue; Hillary Clinton was the first.

Confession of a Stylist: Patricia Field

Although Patricia Field is probably most well-known for creating Carrie Bradshaw's look on "Sex and the City," she's been in the fashion business for years and has served as the costume designer for many movies and TV shows including "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Ugly Betty."
Another character lucky enough to be styled by Ms. Field is "Confessions of a Shopaholic's" Rebecca Bloomwood played by Isla Fisher. If you've never read Sophie Kinsella's best-selling series of books that the movie is based on, Bloomwood is a writer who dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine -- and also happens to be obsessed with shopping. Although the movie doesn't debut in theaters until February 13, Field gave omg! a little insight into Rebecca's colorful wardrobe, as well as her own personal style.
How would you describe Rebecca Bloomwood's style?
"It reflects her shopaholic affliction. It's bold, it's eclectic, it's hyper-reality. Her whole room is a closet, so [her wardrobe] is massive. When you have this volume, you can put it together in so many [different] ways because you have so much to choose from."
Which designers did you turn to when dressing Rebecca?
"I got her a lot of clothes from Tokyo -- Harajuko Shibuya, which is young fashion, lots of color. [Isla's] little and the clothes.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire…Puttin on the Glitz and Upscale Resale, two retailers on Historic State Street in downtown Portsmouth, were featured in a New Hampshire Magazine article focused on finding “hidden retail treasures” in the state, a list compiled from interviews across New Hampshire by reporter Darren Garnick. His January “Living Large on Less” guide gave hot tips on finding those “tremendous buying opportunities” he says are part of today’s economy.
From “Living Large on Less”
It’s a buyer’s market… if you know where to look. The advice, to appreciate more sunsets, squeeze in more hugs with the family and bake more yummy cookies, resonates strongly during these turbulent economic times — especially to the thousands of New Hampshire families smacked this winter by power-robbing ice storms. But even the most sentimental Americans still love to own nice stuff. And Granite Staters, of course, are no different.
In downtown Portsmouth, Puttin’ on the Glitz boutique owner Assiah Russell’s mantra is that jewelry is not meant to be stored in a safe deposit box. Her sales pitch is that “Daily Jewels” — fine crystals, beads, art glass and semi-precious stones — can represent “the soul and personality of the woman wearing them.”
“Costume jewelry, or fashion jewelry, as it is now called, arose in the 1920s and ’30s when women wanted to look great in a down economy,” she says. “Also, women who were rich and had precious jewels did not want to travel with them, but would not be seen without jewelry. It is like gilding the lily or putting the icing on the cake. We believe it is… about... finding the jewels to accent each woman’s uniqueness,” adds Russell, who also specializes in vintage beaded purses from Europe.
A few blocks away Upscale Resale owner Janet Solomon agrees with the glitz philosophy of daily high fashion. Solomon, who also owns a seasonal high-end thrift store in Ogunquit, Maine, focuses mainly on artsy clothing. “If a woman knows her labels, she’s going to flip out when she comes in my store,” she predicts. “A good label will fit the body much better, it will hold up longer and it will be the item in your closet that you reach for first. It’s like anything else in this world. You get what you pay for.”
Also-February is the month for lovers, friends, champagne, sweets and lovely gestures of affection...

14 Days of Love

Show your partner just how much you care this year by celebrating your love for the 14 days leading up to Valentine's Day. Your sweetheart is sure to be swept off their feet by these tokens of love, sweet surprises, and romantic rendezvous. Feel free to switch up these 14 ideas and do them in any order, or take some of ours and add in some of your own! Whatever way you do it, this will surely be a Valentine's Day your partner will never forget.
Day 1 - Send an LYC ecard
Send your love an e-card today to kick off your 14 days of love. If you have trouble choosing just one, send one every day until Valentine’s Day! No membership required, totally free, and sure to put a smile on their face. LYC has new cards to choose from every week.
Day 2 - Dinner in Bed
Pamper your love tonight with dinner in bed. Casual or elegant picnics in bed are a fun, romantic way to step outside of the box and connect with your partner. See tips and ideas here.
Day 3 - Desktop Theme
"Like so many out there, there my partner lives overseas. For Valentine's Day, I created a Windows desktop theme of myself for him. I made icons for the recycle bin, wallpaper, and even cursors. I didn’t get around to making sounds (which would've been lines from our favorite songs) but I made great screensavers. I make two different themes -- a "nice" theme and a "naughty" one. I zipped each theme up individually and sent them both to him. Watching his face on the webcam as he opened them, realizing what they were, then exploring them even more was absolutely wonderful and he adored them. Especially the cursors in the naughty theme, hehe."

Day 4 - Whisk your partner away for an impromptu picnic or to watch the sunset.
See more “Intimate Gestures That Anyone Can Do!”
Day 5 - Take an LYC love quiz together
With questions that range from your favorite childhood memories to what you’ve always wanted to do in bed, these love quizzes will have you sharing and connecting like never before.
Day 6 - Make them a good old fashioned compilation CD
Burn them a disk of great songs today. Choose love songs that tell how you feel, songs from your favorite movies, songs on their favorites list, or a well planned out mood trip (guide how your love will feel from the minute they leave the house to when they get to work and then back home with your playlist – make them laugh, touch their soul and remind them of just how much you care). Package it up real sweet or slip it into their car CD player for a fun surprise.
Day 7 - Read to each other from a favorite novel, book of poetry, or erotica.
If you don't already have some, LYC has plenty of reader-submitted romantic stories, poems, and erotica to choose from. See more bedtime romance ideas.
Day 8 - Treat your love to lunch
There is a romantic idea to fit any schedule…
Meet them for a lunch date at their favorite restaurant.
Pack them a special lunch with a sweet love note or Valentine treat.
Have one of their favorite restaurants deliver lunch to them at work.
Bring lunch to them for an office picnic.
Pack a picnic and have them meet you at the park on their lunch break.
Plan a steamy lunch date.
Day 9 - Play a romantic game for two
We’ve got some great suggestions from LYC readers, as well as our own versions of our favorite classic games gone romantic. Grab a bottle of wine or a couple of beers, a yummy snack tray, and let the games begin!
Day 10 - Ten Reasons Why
"For Valentine's Day, I cut out several hearts that led my boyfriend from the front door to the bedroom. He opened the door to a room full of balloons that covered the ground completely, with some balloons overlapping. In the middle of the room, on a chair, there was a stuffed black dog with boxing gloves on that read, "You're a Knock Out," (this was perfect since he loves to box)! There was a poem sitting beside it with candy kisses all around. In the entire room full of balloons, he had to find the 10 special balloons and pop them to find the hidden messages, which were 10 reasons why I love him."
--submitted by Christina
Day 11 - LYC Printables
Print off a love note and leave it on his pillow, his windshield, or in his lunch. Print off a romantic puzzle to do together, print an award for them, a love journal page, or some Valentine's Day stationary to write them a love note on.
Day 12 - A "Kissable" Surprise
"I was in a "romantic idea" mood and decided that I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with something while he was at work. I get off an hour earlier than he does, so I drove over to his work and put Hershey kisses all over his car! I left before he came out so I couldn't see the reaction on his face, but said it was absolutely the sweetest thing any body has ever done for him!"
--submitted by Anonymous
Day 13 - Love Coupons
Good for one: full body massage, dance in the rain, romantic dinner for two, champagne and cuddling by the fire, a kiss anytime, anywhere. Print or email these love coupons and more from Lovingyou.com or make your own.
Day 14 - "Meet Me" Hunt
"On Valentine’s Day, we were both working and were to meet up at home around 6:30 pm. I managed to get off of work around noon, so I decided to do something really special for him. I set things up with the local bakery, florist, and one of his favorite stores to make the night work. I went home and left a big note on the dining table - a place I knew he wouldn't miss. The note said that I would meet him at the bakery at 7:00. When he got to the bakery, the salesman gave him a cake and another note. This note told him to meet me at the florist, which was nearby. At the florist, he received flowers and a Valentine card, as well as another note. The note said that I'd meet him at one of his favorite stores. When he got there, he collected his already-wrapped gift from the salesman along with his final note. It told him that I'd meet him at one of our favorite restaurants. When he reached there, I was waiting for him with candle-lit dinner. We had a memorable evening and he said he loved it!" --submitted by Neha

Madonna's got a new boy toy, and he's predictably young and naked.

The 50-year-old Madge, who is newly divorced from Guy Ritchie and has never, ever tolerated rumors of a hot new relationship to grab a little spotlight, appears in various stages of undress in the March issue of W magazine with 22-year-old Jesus Luz. The 46-page spread features the duo making out, Madonna lying on top of Luz, and Luz standing wet wearing only a towel.
The photos were taken by Steven Klein in a hotel in Rio de Janeiro in December. Madonna and Luz first met at the shoot.
What do you think of the pairing? Did Madonna just choose a guy named Jesus to do that fanning-religious-outrage thing she does so well? TVGuide

Shop Your Closet
1. Big Earrings
It seems that fashion rhetoric is taking a more libertarian bent as of late. There's less preening within the stylish set about Balenciaga and Balmain acquisitions. Instead, recessionistas du jour are smugly trotting out those old Prada, Calvin Klein, and Yves Saint Laurent pieces that have been languishing in the back of their vast walk-in closets. And when their "vintage" oldie but goodie is fawned over by cohorts, they innocently respond, "Oh, this old thing?"
And that, dear reader, is exactly what you should be doing. In these tough times, blowing a month's salary on new clothes is not an option. Rummaging through your very own fashion archive, however, is. Even if it's stashed in musty boxes in the attic, this is a more frugal and satisfying way to pull your spring look together — especially this season, which saw designers reinventing classic pieces that surely you already have packed safely away.
Statement Earrings
Kate Moss pioneered the comeback of chandeliers when she wore them to Leah Woods's wedding last summer. Designers followed suit by featuring large earrings of all kinds: fine-jewelry numbers at Jil Sander, Lanvin's heavy-metal gems, Louis Vuitton's outsize hoops. They're an easy way to add a dramatic feel to any ensemble.
Draw attention to your face with eye-catching gems.

2. Chic Shorts

Stylish shorts have become a perennial fashion must. Designers sent an array of tailored versions down the runways paired with matching jackets for a new, modern take on the suit. The leggy look allows for more daring undertakings like Alexander Wang's Miami Vice-inspired turquoise version, Dries Van Noten's white number paired with a baggy tee and a turban, and Chloé's scalloped hems. You can always nix these more far-out options; yours will be perfect with a slouchy jacket and an edgy heel.
3. Flesh Tones

The prevailing color choice come March is one of a slew of flesh tones. Nude hues were a resounding favorite among designers of all stripes this season, like Olivier Theyskens for Nina Ricci, Giambattista Valli, and Derek Lam. They canvassed the shades for nearly every silhouette, from evening gowns to day dresses, pants, jackets, and short skirts. Dig out any pale khaki pieces you might have and mix them with similar colors. The look is freshest head to toe.
4. Pencil Skirt

This smart yet vampy style was a designer favorite and made a stealth appearance during the spring collections. Labels like Prada, Narciso Rodriguez, and Balmain took the sleek staple to new heights by showcasing it with edgy treatments: rumpled fabrics, zippers, and bandaged accents. Simpler versions will do just fine paired with innovative blouses in directional trends like transparency, shine, and embellishment.
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy stays chic in a body-skimming number.
5. Big Belts

The feminine silhouette still holds strong. Bold, wide belts at Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Michael Kors, and Peter Som were worn over jackets, dresses, and full-skirted looks. Obis, fabric wraps, leather, and even dramatic corset shapes are on trend. Affixed with tassels, brooches, or ribbons, belts are an easy accessory to be inventive with, and they update your look in a cinch.
The striking extras at Louis Vuitton lend a finished feel to stylish separates.

A Woman Gets Size 38KKK Implants...

Sheyla Hershey traveled all the way to Houston to get her dream breast implants. This was no ordinary boob job, this was one for the record books. After 8 surgeries and at least a full gallon of silicone the skinny wanna be model and actress was at 34FFF.
But that wasn’t big enough for her. Hershey’s boyfriend even dumped her because he thought she was crazy, rightfully so I say! No only did she want to look more ridiculous there were serious complications that could occur, life threatening.
Poor Hershey had to settle with her small FFF “the state of Texas has limits on the amount of silicone that can be injected into breast implants,” noted ABC.
This crazy woman was determined to get the boobs of her dreams. She found out she could get them done in Brazil. So for her 9th and final surgery (for now) she is a 38KKK. Who even makes bras that size and her back pain must be Guinness book worthy too!
I don’t know any man or woman that would ever find this attractive. It looks like she has 8 cantaloupes on her chest. Freak Show! Does anyone find this attractive? Or am I the only one repulsed by the monstrosities on her chest? source hollywoodwire

I'll get the depressing news out of the way first... We won't be getting a new episode of Gossip Girl until March - maybe March 2, maybe not until March 9... I share in your disappointment. Even worse, we weren't even given any scenes of future episodes... Here's a new ad for the show; it's rather avant-garde, but you get to look at Blake's pretty face for a minute:
There is still the unrevealed mystery of what went down between Blair and Uncle Jack, but it seems he's been written off the show as fast as he was added to the cast - I'm wondering if the Gossip Girl people decided to cut that storyline but forgot to change the preview scenes that referenced said affair. We'll see... eventually... In the meantime, it looks like there will be a rekindling of Blair & Nate's romance...

I guess that means Nate & Vanessa will be over soon, or at least disrupted... the same way Blair's taking a little break from Chuck. There's no way that's over for good, though. On this last episode, Chuck is seduced by a woman, Elle, who thought Chuck was his father and invited him to a party where he "never should have been"... I guess Daddy (Bart) Bass was involved in some sort of secret sketchy society, as Elle ends up missing by the end of the episode.
I have learned is that Blair is going to have to accept that she's not going to Yale in an upcoming episode. Also, Serina's next love interest may be modeled after Anne Hathaway's scandalous ex, Raffaello Follieri. His name will reportedly be Gabriel; he will big sexy & European, and a big phony. He may also put Serina in danger.

Spin-Off Update
This is THE MOST exciting news. The upcoming Gossip Girl spin-off has completed its first piece of casting; Krysten Ritter has been cast as Lily's troubled older sister, Carol. You may remember her as Gia on Veronica Mars.

Described as a sweet girl but also a bit of a disaster, Carol is an actress who's constantly making bad decisions in both her work and personal lives. Lily ends up moving in with Carol after a falling out with mom and dad. Krysten Ritter worked on Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls, prior to this spin-off. Circa '80s Lily and Carol will both be introduced in the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl, presumably through Lily's flashbacks in some form. Here's Blake Lively dishing a little about the spin-off with HollyScoop.com:
But who will play Lily? My fantasy is that it will be Kristen Bell. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello says that if Gossip Girl producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz end up getting their first choice, there will be a lot of very happy fans out there. How great would it be if it were Kristen?! Here's a scene from the second season of Veronica Mars with both actresses. Cross your fingers that my guess is right!
The juciest part of this last episode is, of course, the very end. Rachael Carr has been fired, as a result of the incriminating photo Serina captures on her cell phone of Dan attempting to comfort Rachael, before she pushes him away. Dan shows up at at Rachael's place, presumaby to apologize for trying to hug her, and instead Ms. Carr kisses him and they start getting hot and heavy. She says it's okay because she doesn't teach for Constance anymore. Unfortunately, the head mistress was deciding at that very moment that there wasn't sufficient evidence to fire her. So what will happen now?????
Gossip Girl Gossip
Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick at Madison Square Garden... these two have been going strong for awhile now - will they follow in Penn & Blake's footsteps? They do look happy:

Ed is also busy working on the K-Swiss campaign:

Video Coverage Galore
It is rare for there to be so much new video footage on the web just since my last Gossip Girl entry, but here's a video of Leighton Meester discussing what it's like to play Blair Waldorf, as well as how her own taste in fashion compares to Blair's style, with Seventeen. There's another video of Matthew Settle, who plays Dan's father, Rufus...

I'm not a Star Wars buff, but I have always enjoyed how fans of the movie have been able to work in the Zen of the force in conversations and life in general. Hey if it works for you use it. I have been thoroughly entertained over the past few weeks by former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich and his proclaimed innocence. He has, on two different interviews, mentioned an effective "Jedi" mind trick he has used to help him stay motivated to run in the cold Chicago mornings and it, along with others are worth some consideration.
1. Set Your Clothes Out the Night Before you Run. This seems so simple and rather pointless, but it works. Over the years as I have worked out in the mornings, I always prepare my clothes and other items immediately before bed. It prepares me mentally for the run the next morning, and when the alarm goes off I feel like something is waiting for me.
2. Schedule and Pre-Register for a Running Event. I have said many times putting a date on your goals has a powerful effect in keeping you on task and focused on your goals. Regardless if your challenge is physical or financial if you have a planned date on the calendar and you have made a commitment to attend or meet the goal you are more likely to follow through with the steps needed to reach your goal. (Many people won't do this because we are too afraid the commitment will actually lead to action).
3. Start a Training Journal. Buy a small notebook and journal your running experiences. You could log how many miles you ran, your run time, how you felt prior to, and after your run and the overall experience of your run.
4. Run with Music. Music allows you to lose yourself in your thoughts and turn your focus from pain or fatigue. Why else do you think the Marines and other members of the armed forces run and sing cadence? When I was in the Marines we would go for extremely long runs or marches and sing cadences the entire time. Our focus was on repeating the words or song and the often humor associated with what was being chanted. (I don't suggest singing cadences while running alone, people tend to stare).
Suggested running mix: (My friend Lucinda swears it will motivate anyone.)
Bleed it Out - Linkin Park
Get Down on Your Knees- Low Fly Allstars
Personal Jesus-Marilyn Manson
Paint it Black- Gob (remake of the Stones version)
Last - Nine Inch Nails
Push It- Static X
Dig- Mudvayne
What You Got-Reveille
Just One Fix- Ministry
Jump Around- House of Pain
Wait & Bleed- Slipknot
Know your Enemy- Rage Against the Machine
An Honest Mistake- The Bravery
Woman-Wolfmother
Sexy Back- Rivethead (remake of Justin Timberlake- but oh, so much better :
5. Buy a New Workout Item. As much as I hate to suggest this, it does work. Purchasing a new running outfit, shoes, or songs for your ipod can help pull you out of the running rut you will sometimes find yourself in. Just make sure there is room in your budget or spending plan for your purchase and don't become dependent on this tactic every time you don't feel like running.
Even the best runners don't feel like running every day. You have to find ways to overcome the mental road blocks that can prevent you from sticking to routines that move you closer to your goals. Print this article and keep it in a handy place to add to your repertoire of Jedi mind tricks.

If you have any tricks you use to keep you going when you don't feel like it, please share. May the force be with you.
Mary Salmon contributed to this entry with information from 5k5k.org, a website designed to help individuals save money and plan to run a 5K race. (It's a great place to visit for tips & ideas on either subject.)

Stylist Jessica Guilbeault of Hair Colour Concepts of Portsmouth and make-up artists from The Pink Sapphire of Portsmouth and Bedford will offer hair and make-up touch-ups. Then guests will step in front of the camera for a photo shoot with professional photographer Lisa Arvidson.
Photo shoots last approximately twenty minutes, cost $50.00 per person, and include one 8x10- and two 5x7-inch photo prints. Appointments are available between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Arvidson Studios at Arens Stonework, at 434 Portsmouth Avenue in Greenland.

Angelina Jolie Trying to Get Pregnant

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly trying to conceive their seventh child. Sources say Jolie wants to be pregnant by the time their 6-month-old twins turn 1 in July.
“Angelina is doing everything she can to get pregnant. She is taking prenatal vitamins, has dramatically cut down on her junk-food consumption, and is seeing her obstetrician regularly whenever she's back in Los Angeles,” a source tells OK! magazine. “Her goal is to be pregnant by the time Knox and Vivienne have their first birthday. Angelina is one of those people who always manages to achieve whatever she wants.”
Besides the twins, Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children – Maddox, 7; Pax, 5; Zahara, 4 – and one biological daughter Shiloh, 2.
Meanwhile, Jolie and Pitt are rumored to be moving to Brazil while Pitt films his next movie ‘The Lost City of Z.”

Empower Yoga Center is located at 63 Market Street (formerly O2 Yoga Portsmouth) on the second floor above The Flower Kiosk in downtown Portsmouth. The studio changed hands in January, but O2 Yoga does still have two studios in Mass., and the entire staff of the O2 Portsmouth studio has stayed through the transition. Part of what I have loved about this studio for many years is being able to takes classes with so many talented teachers.
Laurel Crawford is the new owner and director of the studio; she has made a few schedule adjustments, and I am particularly excited about the addition of a 5:30pm Friday class. Laurel is also opening the studio on Wednesday mornings from 6:30am - 8:00am for self-practice for no charge. That idea intimidates me a little bit even though I've been practicing for years, so I guess I should suck it up and see what happens when I try to do yoga without a teacher. Perhaps the solution is listening to a class from AliveYoga.com on my ipod.

Empower Yoga Center offers daily classes of a unique style of athletic yoga. The teachers are experienced in "power" yoga (based on many of the principles of Ashtanga yoga). The classes offer a varied sequence of postures with a creative flow, designed to meet the experience, abilities, and needs of the students. Empower Yoga Center aims to empower its members with guidelines and tools to achieve a physical, mental, and spiritual state of balance. Now is the perfect time to try a few classes at the studio, as you can save on drop-in fees with the 2 classes for $18 offer. (Please note that this offer is for first-time students only.)
The focus of the month for February is Navasana, or boat pose, which strengthens the core. This is probably a dorky thing to admit, but I love learning Sanskrit words. I'm sure my pronunciation needs work, but it just sounds really cool! (It even looks cool - see below.) And going off on a tangent, sometimes traditional Ashtanga classes will begin with an invocation, roughly translated as a thank you to all the teachers who have come before. You won't have to chant at Empower Yoga Center, that's not why I mention it, but it's a good example of how beautiful Sanskrit can be. Classes usually end with the teacher saying Namaste and students repeating the same, which translates to "the light in me honors the light in you."

You can LISTEN HERE.
Laurel has been teaching in the seacoast area for ten years. She has completed over 500 hours of training and has studied with Mimi Loureiro, David Swenson, and Beryl Bender Birch. Laurel also works at an environmental consulting firm, often traveling around the country to help clean up our environment. In her spare time, she plays the flute with the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and spends quality time with her husband Scott & their 20 year old cat Phantom.
In Laurel's own words: "Coming from a physically active lifestyle, I was immediately drawn to Mimi Louriero's (founder of O2 Yoga) style of yoga. At first, it helped me to achieve a physical balance that I could not get from many other disciplines. Only later did I discover the mental and emotional benefits as well. Throughout this journey, what has impressed upon me the most is that yoga empowers you to fully embrace life, no matter where you are physically, mentally, or spiritually. Thus, the name 'Empower Yoga' seemed to fit."

Rome Fashion Week Doesn't Impress Giorgio Armani

Last week Giorgio Armani told the Italian press that Rome "has killed high fashion by showcasing people who didn't merit it," referring to some of the other designers who were also set to show during Fashion Week. Giorgio basically called out Rome's Fashion Week, which ends today, for what it is - a weak link in the fashion world. Rome's fashion scene pales in comparison to that of Paris or New York.
His remarks have stirred up some controversy, but there are also a lot of people there who also agree with Mr. Armani. Rome Fashion Week organizer Nicoleta Fiorucci told Reuters that she saw Armani's point and removed some weaker designers from the schedule. The event doesn't draw the celebrities you might expect to see as in Milan or Paris, but when all is said and done, Rome should be grateful for the input; I have a feeling people will be paying attention to see if anything has changed during Rome's next Fashion Week.

MimicColor is a new, innovative, cosmetic hair color touch-up for women and men that covers outgrowth between permanent color applications. It is available in five colors to match a wide-variety of hair tones, MimicColors can also be mixed and matched to add depth and highlights to everyday looks. Applied quickly and easily with two conveniently sized brushes or fingertips, MimicColor’s cream blush-like formula is mess and drip-free, leaving hair looking and feeling natural and soft. You can read more about this product on Runway Ready; we first learned of this product product back in October, and now as promised, here are our reviews:
From Deb - We women all have our little beauty tricks up our sleeves. One of mine has been covering my gray hair with mascara to get a few more days before a hair appointment. Mary asked me to join her in reviewing a new product she received called MimicColor, which makes a cosmetic touch-up for women and men that "hides roots between permanent color applications." One thing I've noticed as I get older is that the time to color seems to come more and more quickly. But, of course, coloring less often is also healthier for your hair. The mascara does work in a pinch, but the color is dull and it can be messy.
I've been using the MimicColor sample for about two months now, and I have to say it definitely works – it covered my gray nicely and the color matched my own hair color far better then my dull black mascara. What I like best about the product: I'm getting two extra weeks from when I first start seeing my gray come in before I have to color again, which is good for my locks and my pocketbook. MimicColor is my new hair color trick – it gets the Runway Ready stamp of approval.
From Mary - I have also tried MimicColor, and while the results are not that of a brand new dye job, in a pinch it will certainly cover up those gray - or in my case white - hairs, but it is a trick I will save for emergencies.
On the plus side, it's very easy to apply, it fits easily in a purse for on-the-go application, and the color seemed to blend in with my own just fine. We were sent two samples, two shades of brown; I tried the lighter brown and Deb used the darker brown.
What you need to watch out for: I found that applying with my fingers rather than the little brush gave better results with less build-up. When I used the brush two days in a row, I didn't like how it made my hair feel, but I may have been applying too much. My finger seems to be a better applicator for me. The second thing to REALLY watch out for is to make sure you shampoo the living heck out of your hair to get this stuff out before you do dye your hair, or it will block the dye from getting to any hair still coated in MimicColor. They do warn you about this, but I was surprised that it took me two shampoos (in a row) to get the product out.
If you heed my warnings above, you should have no problem using this product. It is also supposed to add body, which I'm not sure it did, but it didn't make my hair look greasy or weighed-down. I have never seen another product like this, and I'll be curious to see if this is a product that we'll start to see in local drug stores at some point soon, as it is very practical. Another Fragrance Scandal!

You may remember reading about the Twilight perfume scandal - where the design of the bottle was a rip-off of the bottle used for Nina Garcia's fragrance. Now P. Diddy is being accused of stealing an artist's sculpture for the design of his cologne bottle. Tom Patti filed a lawsuit last week in Federal court against P. Diddy and his company, alleging he ripped off the glass cradle of "Unforgivable" (above right) from his design called "Modulated Solar Airframe" (above left).
I'm not as convinced this artist is going to win his suit as I was sure that Twilight would be pulled off shelves.

Banned by the NFL - AshleyMadison.com US Super Bowl Commercial
Not only does NBC not want to show PETA's ode to chicks erotically frolicking with produce, but they've also banned a spot by America's favorite extra-marital dating website, AshleyMadison.com. Oh, the humanity!
But there is some good news for cheaters, the ad will air in Texas. According to Noel Biderman, the site's CEO, hard economic times have made some local stations willing to accept their tawdry advertising dollars "even in this post-wardrobe malfunction Super Bowl climate." Miss Jackson, if you're nasty! Source TMZ

Britney Spears is allegedly set to move in with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Sources say the former couple is attempting to rekindle their romance for the sake of their sons Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2.
People newspaper reports that Spears and Federline will share a $30,000 per-month Los Angeles mansion. “They are trying to be a proper family,” a source claims.
Meanwhile, Spears is set to kick off her Circus tour in March. She will end the North American tour in April and begin the European tour in June.

Once a Cheater, Always a Cheater?

When she confronted her guy, he told her that he still loved her and it was "no big thing." Pam isn't so sure about that. "I thought we were in a committed relationship," she says.
Infidelity comes in many forms, from a few stolen kisses to an e-mail romance to a full-blown affair. But no matter how it happens, it hurts if you're the one who's been cheated on. When it happens to you, chances are you'll experience a range of emotions, from anger to hurt to "Why me?"
Your Cheatin' Heart
Your first question is likely to be, "Why did this happen?"
People cheat for many reasons, some of them more hurtful than others. They may be bored with the relationship, or they may have fallen for someone else. Or maybe they simply can't resist temptation. They may even be trying to make their partner jealous.
Gender plays a role, according to David M. Buss, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and author of The Dangerous Passion (Free Press, 2000). He studied the infidelity track records of thousands of young adults and discovered that men tend to cheat out of the desire for sexual variety. "They go for immediate gratification," says Buss, "especially if the risks are low." For example, if they don't think they're going to get caught.
Women, on the other hand, usually stray because they are "unhappy in the relationship and are looking to see if they can do better on the mating market," he says. He believes that the feminine impulse to shop around may be a holdover from the cavemen days when the men folk were often killed off during hunts and it paid to have a back-up on deck.
The only way to find out why your partner strayed is to ask. The answer, as well as his or her post-cheating attitude (begging your forgiveness versus shrugging it off) will help you sort through your tumbled emotions and decide whether to stand by your philandering squeeze or shout, "Next!"
Weighing the Sins
Before you make a hasty decision to bail out of the relationship, consider the gravity of your partner's transgression. Let's say your significant other kissed another guy or gal. While this is hurtful, he or she stopped short of intercourse. And while it may be some consolation if the romance turns out to be limited to an exchange of torrid e-mails via the Internet, don't forget that cybersex can be hot, maybe even hotter than the real thing. In fact, women are likely to be even more upset by their partner's having an emotional connection with another woman. Men are just the opposite. According to Buss, "When a woman's partner has an affair, the first thing she wants to know is, `Do you love her?' Men want to know, `Did you do him?'"
